If a page on your website doesn't load, an error message shall be displayed to the site visitor. Because there are different errors, there are different pages that'll display, but what is typical for all of them is that they're generic and most likely shall have practically nothing that is similar to the layout of your website, which could be aggravating for any website visitor. That is the primary reason why web hosting companies have introduced a feature known as Custom Error Pages. For a number of different errors, website visitors will see your custom content, which could be informative or amusing, based on your preference, and which shall match the style and design of your website, so the pages shall not appear as if they aren't part of your Internet site at all. You could use this option for a variety of errors - 400 (Bad request), 401 (Unauthorized), 403 (Forbidden) and 404 (File not Found).
Custom Error Pages in Web Hosting
You can set up customized error pages for all of your sites easily when you use any of our Linux web hosting. This can easily be done from the Hosted Domains part of the Hepsia CP, offered with all accounts and once you go there, you can set your custom made pages independently for any domain or subdomain. You should upload the files to your account ahead of time and input the links to them through the process. This function may be de-activated whenever you want and the options you'll be able to select from are a generic page from our system or a default Apache server page. Customized error pages can be set with an .htaccess file as well. The file should be put in the domain or subdomain folder and it should contain some system code and links to the pages. If you are not tech-savvy, you can copy the entire content required for the file from our Help section.
Custom Error Pages in Semi-dedicated Hosting
All of the Linux semi-dedicated hosting which we offer support customized error pages and it will not take more than a couple of clicks in your Hepsia website hosting Control Panel to use this functionality. The option can be found in the Hosted Domains section of your CP where you will need to type in the links to the custom-made files through very simple drop-down menus and an easy to work with interface. Needless to say, you need to upload them inside your account before that. If you do not need to use this function at some point, you could deactivate it just as easily and choose an Apache server page or a default page from our system to be viewable if your visitors encounter an error. If you prefer, you can also use an .htaccess file to permit the customized error pages. The file needs to include a specific line of code plus a link for every error type and you can discover an example of the whole content for all four error types in our Help section.
